trillanes, lim call for people power - will people come?

*Trillanes*, *Lim* call for *people power*. Will people come?
I have been wondering for how long the Pinoy can suffer GMA and what she has brought the country to. With this call for people power, will the Pinoy heed it - as in 1986 and in 2001?
A criticism of both people power manifestations was that they were both Manila-focused. Another is that they were dominated by the same ruling classes.
I wait in suspense who will back Trillanes and Lim, will the common Pinoy jump in and where will they land at the end?

Filipino views re overseas migration

Unlike before the seventies, Filipino overseas migration has become much more commonplace. Thus, in many communities, a number of households would have a relative if not a family member working abroad, so-called pinoy abroad or OFW, if not at present, then in the past. I tried to validate this by interviewing a few of the common tao re their view on overseas migration or about pinoy abroad or OFW. Please view one such interview:

"Filipina" works! Abroad!

FilipinaTeachers of Munting Nayon Community School, a school run by the Filipino organization Kasapi (mostly Filipina), in Athens, Greece. They could have earned more working double, triple jobs as domestic workers but they would rather help educate children of Overseas mostly Filipina Workers (and those of Polish, Nigerian, Albanian workers too who love the way the Filipinas teach and attend to their children) on Philippine curriculum thus helping raise them as Pinoys.

Filipina domestic workers of Filcomsin in Hong Kong. They give up their only day off on Sundays to help other Filipina domestic workers in need, to lobby for their voices to be heard by government agencies or to inform and encourage other Filipina kababayans to register and to have their overseas absentee votes counted. They could have rested or slept or shopped for bargains to send back home to their families.

Filipina nurses among the Sentoza 27 nurses in the US. They are risking their careers, jobs and families back home to pursue their fight against discrimination, unfair labor practices and illegal recruitment. They could have just taken on sideline nursing jobs and earned more dollars to send home instead, especially with Christmas almost only a month closer.

There are more of these Filipina s working abroad whose every hour is dollar- (other foreign currency-) denominated (times so many pesos - so helpful in these times of skyrocketing prices, one more time especially with Christmas almost only a month closer), yet they take time out to assert their rights or help other Filipina kababayans assert their rights as migrant workers.

Prime specimens of Filipina s - prized workers abroad!

Let me try Godiva

With such a brand, Godiva should be the answer to a woman's vanity problems.

In my case, perhaps I should check out their skin care products. My main problems are the occasional pimple and, hehehe, ageing spots and oh no! wrinkles!

Checking out the GodivaSkinCare.com, it is good to find they are not only after their profit but make an effort to teach their clients. Thus, to zap zits, they mentioned the need for a balanced diet, enough water and sleep so they are not just selling their product. Bright!

It's easy to buy - one ticks off the product and you get to read their sales talk and most important for me, how much it costs. There is also option to remove items chosen from the shopping basket. But instead of removing the items, I decide to stop the experiment.

Why? It's just beyond me. My conscience will not allow me to shop in dollars hehehe but the site can also serve as source of natural beauty tips. But why is it in dollars only? It seems the company's site targets our kababayans abroad in the main.

I wll just hope that perhaps my sister will order for me hehehe!

e shopping with PinoyDelikasi

Never shopped electronically so it is good to experience this for the first time in case I have to in the future. I can also tip off our OFW friends at CMA as well as my own friends and relatives abroad if it is worth trying out.

I made believe that I will prepare twenty baskets of Philippine delicacies to give to my barkada during our post-Christmas reunion in Tagaytay. So I accessed PinoyDelikasi.com which was fast.

e-Shopping seems to be easy. I just ticked off from a range of their products from different parts of the Philippines what delicacies I like. I chose acharang ubod from Roxas City, camachile cookies from Dealo of Quezon - a wide selection.

Their product list indicates whether a product is available per can or per bottle or so many bottles or cans per order and the price per unit or per order. I just had to tick off how many orders I need. I can also choose if I want a product to be wrapped in a sinamay basket or wrapper. After choosing, they give the sum as well as options if I wanted to add mroe items or if I wanted to deduct some items as I set my limit at P10,000.

Then I was ready to check out and stopped there as I don't have P10,000 hahaha!

A nice thing is that one can also order in US$ so that would be a plus for our friends and relatives abroad - except the exchange rate these days are really bad when it's tiem to shop for Christmas presents ugh!

The site also has quick links by city and one can do a product search. There's also a bonus Pinoy recipe portal, which will surely click with our kababayans abroad.

So I recommend PinoyDelikasi.com. Try it.
